SENSORY WISE SUPPORT ACCESSIBILITY AND INCLUSION IN SCHOOLS AND IN THE COMMUNITY
With inclusion and accessibility at the heart of what we do, we work with families, early years settings, schools, residential homes, businesses, and community spaces.
Sensory Wise help organisations and local communities to be more
inclusive by providing sensory equipment that calms and reduces anxiety and
stress levels. Our equipment can help those who need it most to regulate
themselves when they are experiencing sensory overload, a meltdown, or general
anxiety. Our work with Local Authority teams help to achieve
inclusion, community cohesion through engagement and participation, and
healthier lifestyles too.
OUR WORK ETHIC AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
We pride ourselves on offering you a more personal and dedicated approach.
Sensory toys and sensory strategies are a huge part of Sensory Wise but
first and foremost is identifying the need for them and understanding the needs
of the children and adults who are going to use them. Sensory Wise is quite
unique as we work in a different way to other sensory suppliers.
‘To enable every child and adult to reach their full potential we must understand their needs and have access to the right tools and resources.’
Lucy Taylor, Sensory Wise Managing Director
When it comes to sensory issues, to get the right output you need the
right input. It is important to understand that over-stimulation and
under-stimulation can have an adverse effect on some children, especially if
they have special needs or a disability. If we do not think a product is suitable,
we will let you know and provide you with information about alternative
products and help you make the most of your funds.
A key part of discussion with families is what experience and
involvement they have with the multi-agency teams in their local area, for
example Occupational Therapy or Speech and Language Therapy. This is vital
information for me as their sensory supplier. If a child has complex sensory
processing difficulties the advice and guidance from professionals involved is
paramount when purchasing resources for home.
We advocate for children and families with special needs and disabilities and we advocate for the professionals who work with them too. We help families, schools, and organisations to understand why specialists such as occupational therapists are so vital to all children and young adults.
